My take on de-tuning early-rise skis

After asking and getting anything from the nebulous to outright "never do it" on how to de-tune shape skis with early-rise rocker, I'd have to say "don't". I asked a guy at Footloose in Mammoth and he said he doesn't at all as he wants maximum edge and that the early rise prevents unexpected edge hooking anyway. I'd have to agree. I brought a gummy stone along for just in case but completely forgot about it after a couple runs. I have new Line Prophet 98s and my wife has new Celebrity 90s. We skied hardpack, groomed, fresh-over-groomed and crud. Neither of us ever came close to unexpected hooking. Now, I might take that gummy stone to the very tips of the shovel and tail kick where it probably doesn't matter anyway just so I feel I didn't bought the stone for no reason, lol.
