We have lots of other gathering threads going full-steam-ahead, so I might as well throw one more into the mix.
Announcing the third annual New England / East Coast gathering. First decision is "where to hold it"? While New England conditions are always unpredictable, it seems that early March is the best bet for "good" conditions. The two snowiest regions in New England are:
- Northern Vermont (Stowe, Mad River Glen, Sugarbush, Jay Peak). We don't have to necessarily visit all of them. While there will be weekdays involved in an East Coast gathering, there will be weekend days as well, and all of these places are crowded on the weekends. There are ways to avoid the crowds at Stowe on the weekend.
- Maine (Saddleback and Sugarloaf). Would visit both areas, Saddleback on the weekend, Sugarloaf on a Monday / Tuesday (most likely). I have never been to Saddleback although it consistently gets high praise from anybody who does go. Sugarloaf is huge.
Probable dates would be either March 1st through the 4th or March 8th through the 11th.
