I probably have a dozen days at Ajax. You are right I've never really learned the mountain. I haven't been lucky enough to be shown the ropes at Ajax, and I can see how I might have a different opinion if I had.
That brings up an important point in comparing ski areas. Some mountains require more "learning" than others, and if you have the chance to get schooled by someone in the know a mountain can be a completely different experience.
Similarly, take everybody's review of a mountain with a grain of salt unless they have skied there more than, say, a dozen days when the whole mountain is open, and with someone in the know showing them around. That makes it difficult to get a good comparison of mountains since few folks have done that at a large number of ski ares, as I haven't at Ajax.
There's is also an interesting tradeoff we have to face. What's more fun: learning a new mountain or getting maximum goods on a mountain we know well? Personally, I keep going back to the areas I know well and love.
