Hey everyone. new to the forum.

Been doin extensive research the past week for skis for my girlfriend. Shes 105lbs and 5'0". Shes progressing really fast and im looking for the best upper intermediate ski.

We live in ohio and we only have one ski slope near us (an hour away). They dont do demos because its so small. Every pair of skis ive bought this far is just off of research.

I think shes going to need something around the 140-150cm range depending on rocker.

Trying to keep cost low and get the most for our money. 300 bucks on the skis is kinda my max. she has already bought her boots and i want the solomon 10 binding.

What ive come up with is:

blizzard black pearls (favorite)

nordica hells belles

dynastar exclusive iliad (i think i ruled this out as to much of a carver)

any other ideas?

I ski them and love them. Gave me the confidence to go from "intermediate" to "advanced" in a stretch of 15 ski days. They are light weight and easy to ski! What length are you looking at? I'd recommend the 152 for her height, weight, and skill level.

I skied with a woman today who is in that size range, actually weigh little less and she was on her new 152cm black pearls. Her skiing took a good leap forward with those skis. She had a lot of confidence in the soft tracked up snow that was a bit wet and heavy, skis were just killing it. Watching her make all size and shape of turns the ski was handling everything that was being asked of it.The few patches where the snow was scraped down to a firm surface they held well. She had not been on a rockered ski before and took a bit getting used to, I say about 1 run by the looks of it. I thought it was a real good ski for her, liked what she was able to accomplish on them.

I 100% recommend the Black Pearl. She'll be able to ski it now and still enjoy it as she progresses. I ski the Bushwacker (the Black Pearl's big brother) and really enjoy it. I can't say enough about those skis. All the women I know who have the BPs love them. Go for it!!

Oh yeah - definitely the 152s.
