So the initial plan would be Weekend through Wed at Mammoth and then following Thur/Fri possibly at Tahoe?

now I have just thought of something... when would people vote on the following year's gathering? rolleyes.gif SLC or Mammoth?

What do you mean by "SLC or Mammoth"?

It's "SLC and Mammoth"!

Any idea when the dates for these two gatherings will be announced? As you might have read, I'm also trying to get some of you guys to Europe next winter. Would be very not-so-smart to plan these trips too close together...

Waiting patiently.

Before we try to make the dates avoid a conflict it would be a good idea to gauge the interest of Bears that would actually consider doing the Euro gathering AND one of the U.S. gatherings.  I bet there's very few and if that is indeed the case, then there's no reason to drive ourselves crazy worrying about conflicting dates.

ditto, I've always liked Brighton (in spite of hoards of boarders) since it has amazing side-country & back country areas.

Off trail stuff now legally open !  icon14.gif

I went to Univ of Utah back in the day. Solitude and Brighton are hidden gems. And I favored Alta over Snowbird since it was where the hardcore skiers were at. Snowbird has a lot of great skiers, but it also has its share of skiers that just want to look the part and throw money around.

Since there's two US gatherings in the west, one in the east, there's no way you can avoid conflicting. If people are going to do Europe and West, (let's face it, no one comes from the west to go to an East gathering unless it's an epic ski academy), then they'd most likely do the late season Mammoth gathering.

Europe seems to be heading for early Feb?

btw, Europe may be less expensive than heading West.

Just sayin'... smile.gif

Actually two in the east: the northeast and the mid-Atlantic

The number that will do both eastern gathering will be the minority. On the other hand, doing one west and one east, or even 2 western and 1 eastern gathering will not be all that uncommon.

Heck, if it were up to me the schedule would look like this for optimized $$ and logistics (and fun) -

looks like we'll be on the same schedule.cool.gif

It WILL be cheaper as long as I'm involved.... Count on it.  Especially if flying from the East Coast, but possibly also the west coast...

FYI the Ski Divas have voted for Snowbasin/PowMow for their western gathering next year. It would be nifty neato if we could work it so the Bears and Divas gatherings are in Utah at the same time.

It would be even MORE nifty neato if the Air Force moves us to Hill AFB in Ogden next fall. I've already started looking at houses 8 miles from Snowbasin biggrin.gif

I'll take that schedule in a second since Snowbird is my favorite ski area anywhere !

Got next years MCP and ready.  paid $349 but missed TC's sellout warning so 2nd one for my Trish was second level at $369

Second level MCP is selling briskly.  I'll make an uneducated guess it could go in a month.  Does anyone know for sure? Are there higher priced tiers.

The MCP is tricky and probably wont work for most gathering bears unless you can ski 2 or 3 of the regions. Also if you stick with one area you're better

with a pass for that area.  MCP easier to use if you live is SLC, W Colorado, Reno, or western Cali from where you can drive.

Hopefully next year, they will add a European Resort to the Mountain Collective, if for nothing else, kicks and giggles.
