Went out yesterday (3-27-13) with a few friends to a mountain near Boone, NC where we live. We were on the tail end of a few little storms and one decent one, there was about a foot of snow on the ground at my house so we decided that the mountain was good to go. Got to the foot of the mountain which is about the same elevation as my house and found about a foot there as well. Hiked to the top and there was about 2 feet on the ground, a lot of it was drifted though so most of the ground had more. The mountain we skied has a little boulder field that runs out onto a trail which leads to the base of the mountain. It was a great time and a really unusual treat for us here in NC, especially for the end of March.
Here are a few pictures of the day. None of them do a great job of illustrating our trip but we didnt stop to take pics during the fun stuff haha.
Hope you enjoy.
