How much grinding is too much?

I've decided to try to do more work on my now ill fitting but favorite pair of 04 Atomic race tech plugs, and the bootfitter I took them do has done a great job getting them to feel better...however, a ton of grinding was required and the boot " sounds" a bit thin in a few areas. Is the integrity of the boot intact if most of the grinding is down on the side of the forefoot? How much will this affect stiffness? When I flex the boot aggressively now, the midfoot buckle can't quite pop up but it moves a lot more than it did, which I'm ok with as long as the shell hasn't been compromised. Thoughts? Thanks.

odds are you are fine skiing it the way it is.....  I've seen boots with holes in them still ski,  All your buckles are attached thru the shell, and they are all holes?  Few more wont matter
