How to remove grips / baskets from poles?

I'm going to put some grips and baskets from old poles onto 5 foot long dowels (from Home Depot) as part of an April Fools Day joke.

Anybody have any ideas how to remove grips and baskets from old aluminum poles?

^ scott poles - you can just put a pair of channel locks or similar (grasp lightly) on top of basket insert and pound it with a mallet - it will come off...eventually.

Hot water - dip the handles in very hot water, then pull.

Baskets - try holding the pole upright on a hard surface then jumping on the basket with both feet.  Or find a U-shaped piece of metal that'll go around the shaft but over the basket and get a big hammer.

I've cut down a couple pairs of Scott poles... ran the grips under the hot water tap for about 45 seconds and they slid right off.

The hot water thing def works for the grips
