The Scarlett B - Identifying Bears

In discussing the day 0 gathering Marznc mentioned that at other ski events like this people put ribbons on their helmets and/or poles to help others identify who is there for the gathering. I can see the advantage of this because it will be impossible to remember what everyone looks like or is wearing especially in the spring when we're going to be shedding layers. Is there any similar plan for this gathering or should I just assume anyone on Blizzard Bonafides is a bear?

Well, for the women look for Black Pearls. biggrin.gif

Any color ribbon on poles or the back of a helmet is enough.  Especially when there are 2+ skiing together.  The advantage of helmet is that means the ribbon goes indoors.

If you bring a roll of surveyors tape, it's easy to distribute to whoever finds you in the morning.

I think nolo mentioned something about Epic stickers as another form of ID.

I thought there was only one skier per four square miles of terrain in Montana? So why do we need ribbons?

Monday at Bridger you can assume anyone skiing in the morning is a bear or an 'otan on spring break.

That's an easy one. It's so after you come back, when you're skiing at your home hill, and someone asks you why you have a ribbon on your helmet, you have automatic license to bore him/her for the entire lift ride with your stories about how great it was skiing in Montana with the Bears.

Shouldn't be too hard to recognize me.  I'll be the one with the black ski boots.  And I'll be wearing a helmet.

My white helmet has stickers for Alta, Big Sky, and Massanutten (small with bear) on the front.  The bigger stickers are for Beech Mountain and SkiSoutheast.  Oh yeah . . . and a red ribbon I used at Blue Knob. biggrin.gif

I will send stickers up with the Binders on Sunday. You can stick 'em on your skis, helmets, whatever. They come off if you want to be incognito later on.

I am sorry I can't join you on Sunday but I have an annual affliction I must attend to.
