Sorry for the belated reply. I started off telling the rep that I am looking for a ski for powder / soft snow days in northern New England. I set his expectations but telling him that I am a passholder at Wildcat / Attitash and Jay Peak. I mentioned that I am considering the Vagabond because I want a ski that is: 1-oh-something under foot, no metal, mixed camber, progressive side cut, square-ish tail with some taper. I prefer a more playful ski over the point and chute kind.
The Nordica rep basically stated that the Vagabond does not really exist on the East Coast right now. He was at a loss to suggest a place where I could demo them and ordering blind and hoping they are fun is my only practical option. He then went into a statement of "I am the Nordica rep, but...". He said he has skied the Soul 7 and really loved them. There are tons of different places in New England to demo the Soul 7.
Given my stated requirements, the Soul 7 was the obvious recommendation and I expected it. I'm just likely to have to pay through the nose. Right now on my radar are the Nordica Vagabond, Rossi Soul 7, Head Rev 105, Salomon Q-105
