Although I ski on the east Coast, I ski with a lot of older ex-racers and have found that a lot of them struggle to get dialed into the really wide full rockered skis. The sensation of driving the shovel and getting a nice full high "C" carve is ingrained into your muscle memory and most likely, a sensation you may look for and are comfortable with. Alot of my high level skiing friends who used to race are successfully using on:
- Dynastar outland 80's
- Dynastar Cham 87
- Blizzard Bonafides
- Fisher Motives 80, or 88 cm ( I have the 84 and it is a good utility ski)
- Volkl Mantras
- Line prophet 90
These are all solid skis that may fit better into what you may be looking for. I have tried all of them, my main ski is a speed course gs board and I found all of them to be excellent all around skis. there are so many good choices pout there right now it can be challenging.
Good luck with your search.
