Thanks for the suggestion Marko, I put n three days at A-basin so far and will finish my final day in CO there on Mon. I had some good convos with people there, both on the lift and on the hikes up to the Zuma cornice. Only place outside of Whistler I've had to wait in line to hike lol.
My only complaint with Abasin is that it's very small and the ski area does not open the far side of the Zuma cornice often - cuts the skiable terrain by 40% since e rest of the mountain gets skied off in minutes after opening.
But definitely a good place to meet like minded skiers. The tailgate scene in the parking lot is entertaining, dogs chasing skiers, BBQs, and beer blasting, wish I had known about it earlier n n my ski sabbatical.
Abasin has had a tough couple of years with regard to snowfall. I see on Al's blog that they will be discussing opening the East Wall ... which didn't happen at all last year, and hasn't happened this year. Sounds like you would enjoy that, maybe Monday, who knows!
