Epic dentists need not apply....

From a current post on TGR (by Incompetent Boob):

Spare seat in AK in April?

Can't convince any riding mates to hit AK with me. I'm a little worried about getting stuck with a bunch of epicski dentists instead of the tgr variety, so was wondering if anyone needed help filling a heli?

I'm no rockstar, but I'll ride most things and am looking for some more interesting lines after a season in Verbier.

My reply on behalf of the entire Epic community (not just you dentalmen):

Dear Sir,
I wish to protest the previous characterization in the strongest possible terms. Several of my friends are members of Epic and only a few of them are dentists.
Respectfully,
Dr. Mo Lar DDS

Sometimes its just too easy.

PS: I wonder what the TGR "variety" of dentist is. Perhaps they are the kind that "fill helis" and not cavities.

(Whoa, weird text incompatibility between TGR and Epic - figures).

Hahah nice one.

OP is trying to troll both TGR and Epic at once with the same screen name.

Perhaps having a dentist along could prove quite useful on a really hard core BC heli trip?

Good point.

Though I fear that even one of our epic dentists could not save this one - its just too far gone.

So what was the fallout on TGR from Dr. MoLar's reply?  Was it even witty?

Naw. The thread just deteriorated into a recitation of various human orifices that had little to do with skiing or dental hygiene, and I lost interest.

Respectfully,

I confess that my feeling of identification with EpicSki is strangely re-affirmed by the accusation that it's where the dentists hang out. There is something to be said for knowing which pigeonhole you belong in.  smile.gif   It's not so much that I'm especially comfortable with dentists specifically - and yes, I know there are real dentists here ... maybe right in this thread, even -  but to the extent that "dentist" can be a proxy term for someone who's reasonably thoughtful and articulate and well educated and probably not nineteen years old and disinclined to insult people gratuitously ... I'm down with that. There. I've said it.

Well, apparently the people at Epic are old.  Just like dentists, right?!  And everyone knows old people are no fun.

Doncha know?

The folly of youth.  It's a shame youth is wasted on the young.

Dentists is more of a TGR joke than anything having to do with Epic.

One of my dentists is a skier and always had the most recent issues of Powder, Skiing, Ski, etc in his waiting room.  He was a good ole boy with DDS from the University of South Carolina credentials  hanging in his office.  He tore is ACL skiing a couple of years ago.  My work location changed so I've moved to a different DDS closer by.  Don't know if she skis.  I'll be sure to ask her and give her an EpicSki sticker if she says she does.

Pics or it didn't happen biggrin.gif .

They are all a bunch of dentists over at TGR. I think that they think that the Epic Dentists are not "safe" enough to ride teh chopper with the TGR dentists. I regularly attend the safety meetings however, i am not a dentist so that leaves me out. Maybe Chaos could help them out?

TGR = maggots = dentists  ...  and yes it's a joke and doesn't really have anything to do with Epic.
