That could very well be true. My assumption that Abay had a say is based on the fact that Abay is still on the Epic pass- you would think that if they really objected to losing the 5 days pass share deal, they would walk from the Vail arrangement entirely.
This is one of those deals that just doesn't seem to make sense to me any way I look at it. I can't imagine Abay cannibalizing its own season pass sales and giving away its extended season to Epic pass holders without some serious compensation, but I also can't imagine Vail being willing to pony up the amount of cash to make it worth their while.
Its kind of like Silverton passholders getting 5 days at Monarch, 5 days at Loveland, and 5 days at Abay, and then selling that pass for $199, but imagine if Silverton was located where Keystone is and offering that deal- Why would the other areas go along with it unless they got like >50% of the pass price?
