Looking for new skis, Atomic VF 75 and Head REV 80?

Since my current pair is damaged by a blindly jumping boarder, I'm looking for a new pair.

Right now these two seems to be good choices, either Atomic varioflex 75 in 175 cm, or Head REV80 in 170 (what's the difference between rev80 and rev80 pro? the techincal data is identical but pro is more expensive).

I ski in the east and live in an large urban center, so probably 90% of my skiing is done in groomed hard pack and icy slopes, the rest compose of maybe 8% crud and other things. I like to stick with black if I can, or steeper blues, and carve at medium speed (about 35 mph sustained speed according to alpinereplay, not sure how accurate is it).

Any thoughts on these two skis? Living in Canada I don't have access to too many models and online stores like you guys in US.

Rev Pro has titanal layer Rev does not. Can't comment on the Atomic. Think you might want the metal in the Rev if you're skiing primarily on hard snow.

Thanks, that's good to know, so rev 80 pro is what I'm after then.

I believe the rev pro model also includes the integrated rail and binding system.

Does the rail make any difference from end user point of view?

Integrated rails typically make adjusting the binding to either accommodate different boot sizes or different positions with respect to the ski easy. Essentially adjust and go, kind of like a demo binding.

Personally, I'd go with the best deal of ski / binding combo unless those adjustments were important to you. If they were close in price I might spring for the integrated, but if not I wouldn't worry.

Thanks, I thought so, not important to me since I never adjust it afterwards. The difference is only $35, so I'll probably spring for the pro for the previously mentioned titanal layer.
