Interesting article from the BBC.

Yes, it is interesting.  I returned a couple of weeks ago from skiing in India controlled Kashmir at Gulmarg, just 6 miles from the line of control.  The skiing is incredible there.  The Swat Valley is a completely different matter security wise.  There was an Australian guide I met in Gulmarg who claimed that Gulmarg was done (too many folk have discovered it).  He's evidently starting up some tours in Pakistan.  The photos he had of the area where he's headed were incredible.  It is, however, all touring -- no lifts.  And the security situation is far different in Pakistan than it was in Gulmarg.

One of these days I'll take the time to write a trip report on Gulmarg...

Or at least post a couple pics. Like today biggrin.gif Sounds like an awesome trip; that area really intrigues me.

I'm going to check out that article. There's also an article on TGR about skiing Afghanistan. It should pop up on the home page.
