So Day 1 at Sugarbush North is in the books. We had Crank, Mrs. Crank, songfta, Hoss, Mariah, at_nyc, Matthias99, Slow Weddie and myself. If there was anybody else in attendance that we couldn't find, my apologies. Please PM me for my cell number if you want.
Several participants were coming to Sugarbush from the south and were delayed / detoured onto Vermont back roads due to some sort of house fire. So nobody made the 8:30 meetup (except me!) and the 10:00 meetup was more like 10:30. But eventually we got the group together.
Explored a variety of the runs at Sugarbush North. Hoss and Mariah tried out Upper FIS (Freaking Insanely Steep) and said it was "ok" in a tone of voice that indicated that it wasn't "ok" enough to bother doing again. songfta, at_nyc, Matthias99 and I tried out Lower FIS which is nowhere nearly as steep but has the longest runout of any trail I've ever been on. Snow on Lower FIS started out really nice and then turned worse and worse as we descended. But it was still fun.
Groomers were nice and soft. Tried another bump run in the afternoon which again started really nice and then degenerated into a mix of rocks, ice and some snow. Matthias99 got some action shots which will hopefully be posted at some point in the near-ish future.
Had dinner and drinks afterwards at The Den which is right next to The Store. Innovative names here in Northern Vermont!
