It is amazing content. With all respect to the individuals who leave a rating or review, the best content seems buried.
I really miss the map with pins. Even a map that for the regional breakdown, would be better than nothing for the Resort home page.
Reviews and ratings are definitely not the strong point for Epicski resort pages. Much like Yelp! for restaurants, a few anonymous reviews don't mean too much whether positive or negative. Those should not be at the top. A link would make sense, but the content should be after other stuff. Right now Massanutten is "Most Popular" in the United States, perhaps because it has the most recent positive review. Granted I like the place a lot, but that's ridiculous for the average reader.
The goal for the first screen should be to pull in the reader first because they are finding info that more useful than what they can find by going to the website of the ski resort. Related Conversations is what's unique about EpicSki in relation to resorts. The Guides are good as a starting point for researching a resort because they are concise and have a consistent format.
Default sort order for a list of resorts should be alphabetical. Or at least should have that as an option. For someplace like Colorado, makes it very hard to find a specific resort since to the reader the ranking order is essentially random. Looking through 50 Western resorts to find one is not user friendly at all. Not everyone remembers which state a resort is in, especially around Tahoe.
Personally, I'm much more interested in the Guide than the Facts&Details. Especially for smaller resorts, most of the Details are not relevant. Would rather have the Guide directly under the Location map. Be nice if Facts&Details could be collapsed or opened with a +/- button.
The regional home pages have fancy links to reviews. But when I look at a link that's the name of a resort, what I expect is to be taken to the resort page, not just to that one review.
Why "Ski Resorts and Mountains" as the title? Why not just "Ski Resorts"? Granted some little hills and local ski areas are not resorts, but they aren't really "mountains" either.
