Did you qualify?  Snowmass March 20-24.

Here's your chance to race against the best.  Pacesetters this year are:

Ted Ligety

Julia Mancuso

Stacey Cook

Steven Nyman

Nolan Kasper

AJ Kitt

Heidi Voelker

Kaylin Richardson

and for the first time ever we have a snowboarding pacesetter!  Olympic medalist and Aspen resident Chris Klug will be on showing us how it's done.

Won't be heading out this season, although, much to my surprise, I did qualify, sneaking in through the back door somewhat.  Didn't rank in the top 10 Nationally or the top 5 in my state nor even the top 5 at a resort, but thanks to NASTAR only counting qualifiers once, that moved me up the list to make it on the resort list.  Anyway, wasn't expecting to go, so have business plans that will keep me away this year.  Good luck to all who head to Snowmass.  It really is a fun event!

Just wanted to give a wrapup.  Of the nine Nationals I've attended this was the best.  The organizers and Snowmass personnel did a terrific job.  The pacesetters made everyone feel welcome.

Each year I maintain an online diary of the event.  Feel free to peruse it.  Here's a photo album.

The Nationals return to Snowmass next year.  Make plans to join us!

Pat,

How was the turn-out this year?  Looking at the results online, looks like the numbers in my age group and my son's age group were down considerably from the number that raced last year.  On the other hand, it looks like it was a really close competition this time around with the winner only fractions ahead of the 2nd place finisher.

And just have to love that the TOP resort team this year comes from that King of the Vertical, home of the Steep and Deep.... BUCK HILL!!

Last year there were 8 in my division, this year 12.  Bib numbers went to over a thousand.  With Vail's ill-advised decision to pull out of the program I thought numbers might be down this year but it appears the impact was negligible.

Buck Hill earned the top spot against some very strong resort teams.

My 66 year old knees are still recovering from doing double duty out there.  i'll be ready when next year rolls around.
