About Me:
I am proud to have helped pioneer the sport of snowboarding and to have participated in its progress the past thirty years. After twenty years on the World Cup Snowboarding Circuit and finishing as the top American Snowboard Racer in seventh place in my third Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada in February 2010, and winning my eleventh US National Snowboarding title in March 2010, I retired from snowboard competition. As a twelve year liver transplant recipient, I am grateful to be alive and am committed through the Chris Klug Foundation to promoting life-saving organ and tissue donation in all that I do to help the more than 120,000 people currently awaiting a second chance at life across our country today. After twenty plus years living out of a suitcase on the road pursuing my Olympic dreams, I’m lovin’ being home in Aspen working, playing and being a dad. My energies are focused on my real estate business with Aspen Snowmass Sotheby’s International Realty and balancing my snowboard freeriding and mountaineering activities. I continue to challenge myself athletically. I am passionate about demonstrating what is possible after a transplant by participating in events like the Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race, The Elk Mountains Grand Traverse and the Power of Four SkiMo Race on my split-board and Power of Four MTB Race. One of my future goals is to become the first transplant recipient to climb the Seven Summits. My motto is “Don’t take a turn for granted and enjoy the ride!”
