Will Head Carve 10s be a good fit?

Hey all, new member here and could use some advice.

I'm looking at a good pair of used Head Carve 10 skis. They are 180cm. I'm a fairly new skier and consider myself an advanced beginner.

I have a hand me down pair of 70's Hexcel Hexcelerators that I learned on and have been my only pair of skis forever. I want to upgrade to newer shaped skis and I'm hoping these will work since they are in my budget and nearby.

I'm 6'1 210 lbs. Any info on them will help, thanks!

Anyone?

Welcome to EpicSki.  I am not a Head person, but from searching the internet these appear to be at least 10 years old and I think were beginner skis.  To me, $50 is pretty steep for a 10+ year old beginner ski with no bindings.  Frankly your old Hexcels are better skis.  Try Play it Again Sports or wait until ski swap season next fall and try out some newer model skis this season.

Alright, I appreciate your advice. Similarly I've found a pair of rossi bandit x skis with rossi bindings for $100 near me. I'm considering them as the reviews are all pretty good.

I think you would be better off with the Rossis.  Just inspect them carefully before actually buying.

ok, will do. Any particular areas I should be looking at?

Make sure the edges aren't ruined, as in big chunks missing.  No metal showing throw the bases.  Check that there's no delamination starting.  Make sure that both skis have the same contour, i.e. one isn't bent.  Top sheets are likely to be fairly dinged up but that doesn't affect how they ski.

One more thing.  Find out what the bindings are and call a local shop to make they are still indemnified.  If they aren't no shop will work on them.
