Funny question for a "tek" weasle biggrin.gif

Radios communicate with each other via radio waves and don't require any external infrastructure, unlike cell phones, satellites, etc. In other words, yes.

US spec FRS radios are not legal for use in Japan.  That frequency band is allocated for something else.  *Can* you use them?  I would assume so (although I'm not speaking from personal experience there), but it's not legal and I would guess there's a fine if you somehow manage to get caught.

If a tekweezle doesn't know the answer, he tries to find someone who does!

We are finding out now that the answer isn't so simple but it is leaning towards being illegal. Boggles the mind that it could be like this....

Thanks for your responses!
