Campton Mountain has been re-opened as there is now enough natural snow (no snow-making). It's a few miles from exit 28 on Rt 93 in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This is a ski area that was closed and on the NELSAP list for 12 years, and was re-opened the season before last.
It's only open on weekends and lift tickets are $12, for either day skiing from 9-4 or night skiing from 5-10. There are two lifts, a standard double chair lift and one of the last rope tows around. Three runs are open, the shortest of which is the main run along the direct path of the chair lift, which is around 1400' long and a little over 300' vertical. Two of the three runs are periodically groomed with a vintage Thiokol snow cat, and have night skiing lights which are visible for many miles. The ski lodge serves cooked to order food and has full bar service. There is often live entertainment on Saturday evenings, and I believe Jackie Lee is singing this Saturday, and Matt Smart is scheduled for next Saturday. Call the Waterville Estates front desk for further details (603) 726-3082.
