Should I mount bindings with 120mm brakes on 98mm skis?

I've read that the ski break shouldn't be more than 15mm wider than the ski. I don't see a problem if the break stick out a little more. Any thoughts on this.

If the brake is real wide you could catch your ski pant leg bottom and that could trip you up.

Bend it in or get new brakes

I'd advise you to bend 'em in to fit nice and close.

However, I've been running 100mm brakes on my 66mm bump skis for years now.  Got 'em caught on my pants once.

You might also be able to trade with someone if you don't feel like bending them, there are often people looking for wide brakes.
