Salomon boots - what's the difference?

Thread Starter

I'm considering getting Salomon boots to replace my old Nordica Speedmachine 8s that are getting pretty packed out (heels are lifting, space in front of toes). I looked at their product line up online and I was just wondering what the differences are between the different categories and models.

The Salomon Instinct 70 looks interesting especially since it's designed for lighter women (I'm about 100 lbs) and the 70 flex should be easier than my current 80 flex boots. On the other hand, the Salomon Idol 75 or even the sport models like RS 75. What are the differences between these boots aside from the flex and last? Should I also be looking at the All-Mountain models like the Quests? Not sure what the difference is between their on-piste vs all mountain boots.

I've been skiing for about 8 years now, around intermediate skill/technique, but I can also get down blacks/double blacks, albeit not that elegantly.

I plan to go to a bootfitter, but it would be helpful to have models in mind so I can figure out which stores have my models/size. Thanks!

the ratings for condidtions are silly, and ignore them

its is all based on what fits you correctly.

this might help
