What type of terrain do you want to use the ski for?

What's your weight?

Which resorts do you like to ski?

How technically skilled are you?

Mid to high 180s should be fine.

When in doubt, you can always demo.

Edit: depending on the rocker profile, you may be able to ski some models in the low 190s.

I agree, 180s range should be good for you.  I just ordered Scott Crusade 169's which I though would be fine because I ski 170's currently.  However, I did not realize the rocker tips shorten the length of ski that actually touches the snow.  I found that out the hard way this weekend and now will be ordering the 179's now (which means the 169's are for sale if you know anyone!).  I find that talking with the guys at the ski shop is a good idea.

Find some Red Sleds on EBay, 210's or so.

Mount some modern bindings on 'em.

Enjoy.

Yah, a 180cm is probably about right for someone who is 215lbs., but if OP really is a 9.5 out of 10, then he should already know what ski length is right for him. Or I could be wrong and not knowing what length to ski on is what is keeping the OP from being a 10 out of 10.
