PSA: Praxis Overstock Sale

Thread Starter

Ridiculous overstock prices on some of the best skis out there. IMO, the available Powder Board and Protest sizes are incredibly sick deals for smaller guys or women looking to snag a truly amazing deal on top quality modern powder skis.

http://praxisskis.com/shop/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=3&Itemid=3&vmcchk=1

Check out the reviews on Praxis skis (including several of the models on sale) at places like Blister Gear Reviews and exoticskis. Or my Powder Board review here (I need to do a Protest review one of these days too - but that is decently reviewed out in the world already).

For my .02, there are "premium" brands out there that offer little more than the chance to pay a marketing premium on your new boards. I suspect it is more by fate than design, but Praxis' "marketing" (if you want to call it that) is to offer great skis with no built in costs of big print ad budgets, marketing salaries, channel markups, etc.... You just get great skis. Not great skis for the price. Just great skis.

All the usual 10% codes should work against those prices ( EPIC, FACEBOOK, etc.) Although if you use FACEBOOK, be sure and give 'em a like... . Plus, I have a 20% referral program code if you want to PM me for it. Or use your buddy's if they are already a Praxis customer. All old customers now have those codes. The new stepped up marketing program biggrin.gif

For those who put extra stock in competition related stuff, Drew Tabke has ridden Praxis skis to first place finishes at two out of the 3 Freeride World Tour events that have been run so far this year.

Keith at Praxis is usually pretty quick to respond to questions about model selection, sizing, etc. The non-overstock models on the site offer some great values too. Full lineup here

Man, those prices are just incredible.  I can't imagine supply is going to last long.  I have spindrift to thank for turning me on to praxis, I love my pair of concepts.

Clearly I saw my PMs too late last night...

Does anyone have any experience with the Praxis Piste Jib ?  They seem to be close to what I am looking for !

Well the GPO sold out in 4 days!

Last days for the sales and 20% off coupons. Great deals to be had still on many models.

Anyone have a coupon code that still works?  I'm lusting after their touring skis.  TIA

Sorry to tack on to this, but I'm also very interested in doing a pre-order on a pair of Woo 2.0s for next season...

If anyone has a coupon code they'd be willing to share, that would be a big help to me and I'd really appreciate it. Didn't want to start a thread just for that.  Maybe I'll write my first gear review on them once I get out on them :)

I already dished my code out...

It is worth noting that code EPIC should get you 10% off website listed prices. So even if no one here or TGR coughs up a 20% code, that still ends up a pretty sweet deal. For my .02, normal "list" would make these the best deal in skiing. Spring sale prices + any of the discounts you can find makes them extra ridiculous. Add a range of topsheet choices, plus your pick of flex in any ski for no extra charge - and it is way over the top. (plus full custom graphic or real wood top sheets for an extra charge). Yeah, I'm a fan - no two ways about it.

FWIW, I believe the spring pre-sale and coupons greater than 10% wrap up in two weeks.

Hoss, I've just PMed you ...

Thanks for all the help guys.  I'll be reaching out to Keith to setup my Woo 2.0s today.

Yeah, their pricing makes their skis, which are clearly very high quality, very accessible.  Can't wait to get on a pair for the first time.

Have fun on them! I was super impressed with my concepts and the customer service from Keith is top notch.

I ordered my Backcountrys yesterday.  It's going to be a long wait for winter...

I bought a pair of Ullrs from them last year and also had a very positive experience with Keith and Praxis.  If anyone is looking at a semi custom pre-order keep in mind Praxis has a bias towards stiff skis; they put my Rossi Super 7s on their flex machine and it "measured" well on the soft side of medium.

Actually glad to hear that.  I was worried that medium may not be stiff enough

Here's a cut/paste of the pre-sale ordering instructions including some flex comparisons.   Given the way the Praxis models I've used ski, anyone who needs more than medium stiff in most of these designs oughta be able to bend a ski in a serious way IMO

How to Order your Praxis Custom Skis:

Step 1: Choose your model and length.  Please feel free to contact us with any question or for advice on what model is best for you.

Step 2:Decide what topsheet option you would like. We have 4 options available.

A) You can order the ski as shown on the website

B) You can pick any graphic from our graphic library  at no extra cost.    Choose “graphic from library” on order form and add one of the graphic options from the library to your shopping cart.  If you have more than 1 pair of skis on an order simply make a note on the order form what graphic goes with what ski.

C) You can create and submit a custom graphic!  Give your ski  a one-of-a-kind look that you created.    Click here for more info on how to create a graphic to fit your ski. This option has an additional cost of $175.

D) Top your ski with a real-wood veneer.   We have 2 different types of wood veneers available; Birdseye Maple and Bubinga.    This option has an additional cost of $250.   Testing over the past couple years with these wood veneer tops has gone really well as they are probably the most durable topskin option we have used and in our opinion look the best.        To order a wood veneer topsheet select “wood veneer” from the top sheet design drop-down menu on the order form, and  make a note on the order form what type of veneer you would like.

Step 3: Choose your preferred flex.    Please feel free to contact us for advice on the best flex for you.   You have the option from 4 different ski flexes.   See below to our number flex system in reference to the soft, medium, medium/stiff, and stiff options.

Soft = 5 – 6             Medium = 6 – 7    Medium/stiff = 7 -8         Stiff = 8 +

We recently used our flex testing machine to test the flex of some common industry skis, here’s what we found.

Step 4: Choose your layup.  With this option you can choose between a carbon fiber blended with fiberglass layup or  the standard fiberglass layup.   The use of carbon fiber has become very popular in ski construction and can be beneficial in creating a better weight to stiffness ratio for the ski and if used correctly has a great dampening quality and adds pop or life to the skis but this does come with an extra cost.  So we have the option to use our standard Tri-Axial fiberglass or a hybrid layup with a tri axial fiberglass and 2 layers of zero degree carbon fiber.   There is an extra cost of $120 for the addition of carbon fiber.   However, the 3 models in the Touring Series come with carbon fiber included since we feel it’s the best fit for these skis and have made it a standard option for the series.

Step 5: Confirm that you have made all your selections and added a graphic option to the shopping cart.   In the check out procedure you will have the option to select from a variety of shipping options. Please select the appropriate option and the cost will be shown at that time.

Our payment options include check, paypal, visa, mastercard, or discover.

Thank you for your interest in ordering a pair of Customized Praxis Skis.  We look forward to making you a stand-out product that you will enjoy for many years.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Shipping: Available to almost any destination around the World for the following cost per pair:

US $24

Canada $45

Most international destinations for $99, or $79 per pair if ordered together and shipped in the same box (2-5 pair in a box)

At checkout you will receive shipping options and pricing.
