I would rate myself as low advanced- advanced skier. Looking for a ski that will do well with quick, short - medium turns and would like to work on my moguls technique more.
I demoed 176 and I have to say they were just amazing. I am in the category "advanced expert" and ski quite fast and GS radius turns, so, naturally I would never go 168. But considering your point about "short-medium turns", this points to 168, but then again, you are 6 and quite lightweight. I'm 6 and probably ~20lbs heavier. Loved these skis, demoed 8 pairs this season, on northeastern icy conditions and these were bar none as far as "everyday anywhere any situation ski".
Hey guys. Sorry about the late response, but I ended up getting an Elan Amphibio 88XTi in 170cm. I will post a review when I get a chance. Thank you for all your suggestions.
I did use Elan's ski selector and they recommended the 176 for the Amphibio 14.
I am 6 ft, 180 lbs, upper intermediate skier. I demoed the Waveflex 14 in the 168 length and had a blast carving up the blue runs at Grouse Mountain. My everyday ski is the Dynastar Big Trouble twin tip in 176cm, so the Wavelex in 176, being stiffer and with a flat tail, would be a bit too much ski for me. Also demoed the Amphibio 88XTI in 170, found it be a bit stiff for my tastes. Nice stable ski, but not the quick, short turner that StoicDude is (was) looking for. The Waveflex turns eagerly, the 88XTI takes more work. Both are great skis, just different.
