Heading to snowbird need lodging 2 nights.

I'm heading up to Salt Lake this week to pick up a vehicle and need a place to stay. Planning on spending two nights and one day skiing.  Looking for a place that is centrally located for options to walk to dinner and a bar, but not being to far away from snowbird for the morning commute.  I will also need to rent skis in the morning.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You're going to need to clarify your post. Or just look at Travelocity or similar.

Are you looking to stay in SLC or at Snowbird? Everywhere in SLC requires a commute to Snowbird. If you want to walk to dinner, I would stay in or around downtown (Temple Square) and drive to Bird. The closer suburbs aren't really walk-to-dinner, bar-hop-by-foot type places.

Discounted lift tickets and rentals can be picked up at the lift house at the base of the  Big Cottonwood canyon entrance. (On your way to Snowbird)

Do a search for places around Cottonwood heights, Fort Union, Midvale. Fort Union is very handy to LCC and BCC, and has lots of shops and eateries, and hotels. Places are filling up for Presidents though, but you should find something. The Super 8 or whatever it is on the corner of 900E and Fort Union is OK, and cheap.

Note that Ft. Union Blvd. is essentially strip mall central. You'll basically be walking down the county highway or across the parking lot to the chain restaurant that anchors the corner of the strip mall (yes, there are some non-chains, too, but you get the picture). Since you mentioned walking specifically, I assume you're looking for more of a downtown experience, which you'll find in SLC.

Hell yeah voriand, thanks for the advise!   Bought tickets and rentals for a buddy at lift house,  stayed in SLC at the Red Lion.  Thanks again!
