I had a high speed collision with another skier this weekend in Summit County. Neither of us saw each other until the last second. I think I turned to the right at the last possible nano-second and the impact was 75% instead of full impact. I believe he skied away with just some bruises on his leg...I have been diagnosed with a Tibial Spine Fracture. The bone is still intact, but I must wear a full leg brace for the next six weeks and crutches...leg totally straight and no bending. If the knee bends, the ACL is attached to this bone and could pull the bone away...then it is major surgery. MRI and CT on Thursday....surgery is still in the picture but the ortho doc believes we can avoid it at this time. I have to sleep with the brace on....fun.
Now I wish I had bought the insurance on my Epic Local Pass...I will from now on.
I am sad, depressed, and frustrated that my ski season is over. But I also believe I am lucky to be alive after what happened.
Until next season.....
