info on rossignol e83 and e88

I'm looking at getting either the rossignol experience 83 or 88.  I ski midwest hills about 25 days a year.  I have a trip planned for Steamboat in a few weeks.  Mostly groomers, but I try going thru trees and crud as much as I can on a 500 ft vertical hill.  I consider myself a level 7.  I'm 5'7" and 180lbs.  I would like some advice on which ski would suit me the best.  Rossignol recommends a 176cm in the e83 or a 178 in the e88.  I'm not used to that length or width (currently I ski 70mm underfoot on a 154cm).  Should I go with the rossi recommendation or could I drop down a size (168 or 170)?  I do tend to make frequent sharp turns on the short runs.  Will I notice a big difference going to a bigger width?  How about the difference from the e83 to the e88?  I'd also welcome any thoughts on other skis suited for the midwest.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My everyday ski on smaller hills has a 98mm waist.  Go big or go home.  Think about how much 5mm really is.
