It is already snowing here in Bangor. Early noon I am heading west to Sugarloaf for two days. I always stay in Kingfield at the Herbert Hotel ($79 wknd - $59 wkd). It is a wonderful old rambling place in the grand tradition of late 19th century rural Maine roadhouses. The air smells of mystery and intrigue and ghosts. And the walls are thin, so you know there are no secrets at the Herbert. If your eccentric Great Auntie were a hotel, it would be the Herbert. Not to be missed.
Yeah, we seem to be a bit ahead of the game. NWS is saying that the daytime totals for us are supposed to be 3 - 5", but as of 11:00am we already have that much at my house near Portland. Super fluffy Rockies-style snow (14 deg. F). Just talked to someone in Boston who said it had only started snowing there in the last hour.
