Suggestion on the ski length (173 or 180)

Hi,

I am wondering if I am making a right choice. I am shopping for a new ski and I am thinking that I will buy a Blizzard Bonafide either 2013, if still available or most likely 2014.

I am not really sure what size should I get, 173 or 180.

About myself:

male: 39, 6' about 190 to 200 lb. I have been skiing 8 years, mostly at Kirkwood, Northstar and Squaw Valley.

current ski: Atomic Metron 9 171 (since 2006)

Regarding an ability: doing black and blue (mostly black, but enjoying blues as well).

I think I am advanced skier (or may be intermediate to advanced).

I tried to take a demo, but was not able to demo Bonafide, so I demo Bushwacker at 180 and didn't like how these ski responded at groomers or off-piste. Next I took demo Cochises at 177 and I love these ski on off-piste and the size was right, just the idea of buying one ski for all conditions with 108 underfoot.... doesn't make me really comfortable (I am thinking of either selling or donating my old atomic).

thank you in advance for all your answers.

Your differing opinions on the Bushwacker and Cochise probably had nothing to do with the length, it is rather difficult to feel a 3cm difference. The Bushwacker is a noodle compared to the Cochise, I think you would like the Bonafide over the BW's since it has more metal. BUT, you also may have found the Cochise more responsive due to the full rocker, unlike the BW's tip and tail rocker. The Bonafide also only has tip and tail rocker.

I think the 180 is the way to go if you were to go with the Bonafide, but that's just me.

I am a female advanced skier. I am 5'9" and about 155. I ski the BWs in a 173. If I were you, if probably go with the 180.

Thank you ...

I will go with 180. Yes, the feeling what I am getting between Bushwacker 180 and Cochise 177 is probably due to the Cochise is full rocker and it feels much easier skiing on it, even on soft groomers (at least I felt like that).
