Big Sky / Moonlight - Feb 9 to Feb 16

Headed out for a week with the Family.  I'll mostly be hanging with the Family but will have some windows to go out and get after it.

Just got back from a few days in Jackson skiing with some locals. (Bob's guide helped tremendously too!) Know its much easier to find the goods with a little local knowledge.  Since my 'free' skiing time will be limited, rather than hunt for it, hoping someone can direct me to the sweet stuff.

Not afraid to hike for it, just don't like too much exposure on the hike.  Limited previous backcountry experience, but I will be bringing my gear.  I've been reading about some great runs off the back of Lone Peak and would love to be able to hit those if conditions warrant.

More than happy to hold apres.  Staying at Saddle Ridge.

It looks like we might have a day of overlap (Feb 16). I have a similar post http://www.epicski.com/t/117616/big-sky-moonlight-feb16-22 While I'm by no means a local (Feb 16 will be my first day and I've yet to vist Big Sky) let me know if you're interested in joining for some turns.

The free mountain tour at Big Sky is quite fun and useful for first timers if you can't find a local to show you around.  Although the tour stays on groomers, the host stops to explain the rest of the mountain based on the interests of the group.  That's how I learned about the bumps on Moonlight off the Challenger chair early on.  They keep the groups small and separate by ability (green, blue, blue-blue).  Since our group (older skiers who ski blacks out west and in northeast) could go at speed on the groomers, our host even had time to take us over to the lift shared with Moonlight.
