Need some ideas on how to get from Hayden to Breck next Thursday - thoughts?
Not really much public transportation between Colorado ski resorts, so you're probably looking at the typical "rent a car," "take a taxi" or "hitch" options. I'd imagine you'll have a much easier time going from Steamboat. Maybe you can find some nice folks driving to the airport that wouldn't mind dropping you at/near Breck.
The closest thing to a bus to Denver from Steamboat is Alpine Shuttle, a private company that does taxi/limo/shuttle service. They don't go to Breck, but they do stop in Silverthorne on the way to Denver, which would put you a heckuva a lot closer. They also have a shuttle to/from the Hayden Airport. Looks like it'll run about 100 bucks for a one-way on two shuttles from Hayden to Silverthorne. Here's the site: http://goalpine.com/.
And here's Steamboat Chamber site with some other ideas, but nothing that looks any cheaper or easier: http://www.steamboat-chamber.com/info/ground.transportation.asp.
Sorry I wasn't here to chime in yesterday, but once you get to Silverthorne you should be able to hop the (free!) Summit Stage to Breck. Or, depending on how many other people might happen to be in the van you take to Silverthorne, a $20 might be all it takes ot get the driver to drop you in Breck - it's only 15 mins or so from silverthorne
