Smith Vantage Helmet - Remove Earpads?

Does anyone know how to remove the earpads from the 2012 Smith Vantage helmet with the Boa adjust system?  The two earpads snap out of the helmet but they are connected by cushioning and the cushioning seems to be sewn into the Boa adjustment.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yes the ear pads can be removed. It is true that the BOA system in sewed into the cushioning, but if you follow the BOA forward (under the liner) you will see that it snaps into the sides on the helmet. Simply unsnap it pull the plastic through the cushioning and you should be good to go.

Thanks!  I see where the Boa plugs into the helmet.  I was worried if i pulled too hard I would break it.  Does it plug into a slot (slide in) or do I just pull straight out?

Thanks again.

Straight out.

Thanks.  Very helpful.  I Googled this question, checked the materials that came with the helmet and checked the Smith website and I could not find information on this...all I found was "removable earpads".

Cheers!

Hi, I still don't get it. Do I need to completely remove the BOA system from the helmet to remove the earplugs? Does it mean that if I choose to remove the earplug, I have to give up the BOA system?

In my Smith Vantage, the BOA system is connected to the helmet in the front and the back of the helmet.

Thanks!

I have the same problem getting my earpieces off of my Vantage Helmet.

Does anyone have a manual or description of the process?

Welcome to EpicSki!  Not sure the OP is still paying attention since the thread is from 2013.

See if this helps.  I found a 2015 review of the Smith Variance thats mentions removing ear pads:

"For the exceptionally warm days of the coming spring, The ear pads can be snapped in and out with relative ease. However, there is more to it than just popping them out, because when properly installed they are interwoven into the Boa® Fit System. Removal of the earpads requires the helmet be taken off, pulling out the liner, and unsnapping the Boa® Fit hardware from the inside of the helmet. This is a bit of an operation, and we don’t suggest attempting ear pad removal while riding up the chair lift. All it would take is a swift breeze for the helmet liner to go bye bye."

There is a picture of all the parts of the helmet in the review.  I'm guessing all Smith helmets with Boa are set up the same way.
