IDEAS? Teaching a 3 year old

So i've been teaching a friends little boy to ski over the past 3 weeks. He's only 3 and both his parents are into the snow in a BIG way. His mum asked if i would teach him as he won't listen to them very much. He is an awesome kid but as with most/all 3 year olds he does have a fairly short attention span so he's got me on my toes sometimes.

In the past 3 weeks (Once a week 1 - 1.75 hours at a time) we've begun to turn using our leg rotation in the wedge shape. He's also riding the Poma no problem. Last week i made a race course for him with poles that he could use his turns on. When i originally told him we had a course to ski on he wasn't excited about it at all. Once i told him it was a race course he had that excitement in his eye about the whole thing and made turns around the poles for the most part, i kept changing it to keep it exciting for him.

So I'm looking for more fun and exciting games activities i can do with him as we ski to improve his skiing and keep him having fun. I want to keep strengthening his turns at the moment. I know there is a wealth of knowledge here so lemme at it.

Cheers

I came up with this when the mom of a 4 year old told me she wanted him to be a parallel skier.  As we were walking toward the J-Bar he looked at me and asked, "Do you know Thomas."

My first response was th_dunno-1[1].gif????  How does this kid expect me to know who Thomas is?

Then I remembered that a friend has a grandchild that was in to Thomas the Tank Engine.  So I responded, "Do meant Thomas the Tank Engine?"  The kid lit up and said, "YES."  Bingo! I had the lesson hook.  (I'd rather be lucky than good at times.)  We went out and made railroad tracks for Thomas the Tank Engine for the entire lesson.  It was an easy concept for him to understand.  When mom saw it she was amazed.

So make railroad tracks for Thomas the Tank Engine.  It's fun for the kid and moves him on toward parallel skiing.

P.S. Over the age of 6 or 7 this ain't gonna work.  They are too old and sophisticated by then.  After all Thomas is for babies.....
