I just wanted to point out that Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, who represented Ghana in the 2010 olympics, only started skiing at age 26 or 28, depending on whose record you're listening to, and on indoor slopes.
...so if there's any african or south american team out there that wants to be represented in the olympics, I'm totally available ;)
I know a masters racer who has dual US-Armenian citizenship, and tried to qualify to represent Armenia at the Turin olympics in 2006 (anybody who's active in the SoCal club or Mammoth masters communities will know exactly who I'm referring to). He actually raced the tech events at the 2005 FIS world championships. He had some interesting remarks about the difficulty of going from masters to those sorts of all-injected snow surfaces. He was a run 2 DNF in SL (which means he actually made it through a run on a world-cup level surface - more than I could do for sure). EDIT AGAIN: And finished in GS with >100 FIS points.
Did he make it? (turin) I know he shreds in SL masters it'd be interesting to see the comparison!
