I was checking out ski areas near Charlotte as I have to go there on a business trip soon and was hoping to ski somewhere new. The following warning on Sugar Mountain's home page caught my attention:
"Our lift equipment requires routine maintenance. Although every precaution is taken; in rare cases, grease may drip from lift equipment. Sugar Mountain Resort is not responsible for grease on clothing or equipment. This is an inherent risk of the sport."
In my years of skiing I have certainly seen grease near and on lifts, and I am sure I have had some drip on me at some point but it never was a major concern rising to the level of risk. This warning made me wonder if this is a bigger problem at this area for some reason or if there have been a rash of complaints prompting such a prominent warning. Does anyone have any insights/thoughts?
