Steamboat - any deals besides the 4 x 40?

Thread Starter

My wife and I are coming to CO first week in March, going to ski two days at Winter Park, then go to Steamboat.  Planning to get the 4 x 40 pass for $229, but we want to ski a fifth day.  Which as far as I can see means either ponying up $114 each for a walk-up ticket at the window at Steamboat, or skiing somewhere else back closer to Denver for our last day.

Any other Steamboat deals out there?  $228 for a day of skiing for both of us is pretty hard to stomach, and at this point I think we'll be heading somewhere else for that last day.

A season pass holder may be able to get you a nicely discounted pass...assuming you know somebody or can link up here. Unless something has changed, I get something like 10 discounted as part of the RM Superpass+, but that doesn't include Steamboat.

There are also the coupon books you can often get at the various welcome centers, but that is hit or miss unless somebody can help you with some specifics.

This was not the case last year.  Doubt it is this year but can not confirm or deny.

Steamboat and discounts don't get along too well.

I booked a week of lift tickets and accommodations at Steamboat back in October when they were offering 30% off. i think if I had booked earlier it would have been 40% off.

Not that this does anything for the OP, but discounts and Steamboat do play nicely if you start early.

Right, that's why I said it may not extend to Steamboat. A Rocky Mountain Super or Super Plus pass holder has 20 'Friends & Family' discount tickets, but as expected none for Steamboat as only the Super+ has any Steamboat days for the pass holder. Info here:

Leaving Steamboat at $114/day to ski window rates elsewhere...not getting too much return on that one. I'd offer a couple of WP discount tix off my pass, but I'm usually in ski mule mode with four kids and not reliable for a given date/time....but hey a PM is free as the time approaches if you haven't found anything else.

While this won't help you at Steamboat it will help you if you choose to ski winter park or another resort such as copper on the way back.  Stop at a Shell gas station get 10 gallons of gas and you will get a buy one get one free certificate good at winter park and others..(none of the "EPIC" or vail resorts are included). You can then both ski a 5th day at winter park for $100 total. But be sure and check the restrictions at the resorts on the skifree website such as only good monday-friday at WP Sunday-friday at copper..

For some reason, I thought they may have added the ability for passholders to buy discounted tickets for friends/family. I need to check that out. If I am there and that deal is legit, I would be happy to hook u up.

We did the same thing last year that you are planning.  Two days at Winter Park and then two at Steamboat.  After the last day at Steamboat we drove to Dillon, stayed the night and then skied Breck the next day.  $94, but Breck is worth that to me.  Left Breck and drove to a hotel at the Denver Airport.  Great trip, especially for the two family members that had not skied out west before.
