Sir Francis Bacon Size worry!

Hey guys. After debating for a while which allmountain/pow ski I would go for, I finally decided to buy myself a pair of Sir Francis Bacons today. I'm 5'6'' and 120lb, and would be consider an expert skier I guess (10 years of racing). Anyways, I decided to go with the 178cm SFB's which is a pretty sizable jump up in height from my last pair of of skis (151cm but they were for park).

Should I have gone for the 172cm SFB, or will the 178 be a good decision?

As you can imagine, I'm a little stressed out with the possibility that the brand new skis I just bought today might not be right..

Anyone that would like to easy my fear would be much appreciated..

Thanks!

If you're truly an "expert skier" you should be able to totally ROCK 178s at any size, age, weight, etc.  I was throwing helis (360s) off cat track transitions on borrowed 215 cm GS skis back when I weighed 120 pounds and using a 195 cm for my everyday ski.

Seriously though, if the 178 is a bit challenging at first, you'll be a much better skier once you get used to it.  No, it isn't too big.  Sounds about right for people your size that are beyond intermediate skiers.

That's relieving to hear. As I said, I grew up racing in the east coast, and now just free ski. I just moved out to Colorado this year for school, so I was eager to hop on a more powder orientated ski, hence the Bacons. The 178 feels nice on the foot, but I have yet to take it to the slopes.

Don't know where you ski but regardless you will be happy will the Bacons. I'm about 4" taller and 30lbs heavier than you and ski the 184, they ski short because of the early rise tip/tail so you should be fine.
