I have gone to Utah and Colorado to ski but now I'm broke so I moved to a small town with a ski hill and Honestly the place isn't that bad. The best part is it's not crowded Ruidoso is like most good skiing towns without the crazy prices on food I went to Veil for two weeks and it is beautiful but expensive. Honestly is it so bad enjoying a less known out of the way and less crowded ski hill. I work at Mountain air cabins up here and with what I make I am good to ski all season plus food prices don't kill me

Ruidoso is very nice. I regularly go to Utah and occasionally CO, but Ski Apache doesn't look that bad. I've only been there during the summer at Bonita Park with our church camps a few years ago. Great place!  We occasionally race (drag boats) at Elephant Butte so we make it over there from Phoenix every now and then.   Nice little town, and if the snow behaves its a great little 'honey-hole'.

I love it up here just glad to see not everyone is hung up on going to big name places. In this economy I'm just glad to have a job and still be able to ski also by the way the skiing is awsome this year and there aren't many people on the mountain so it may not be the alps but who can afford that crap right now anyways

Ruidoso is a great little town. I was there a few months ago and saw the area and it looked nice. I drove from El Paso and Rudioso was like a mountain Oasis surrounded by desert. Saw White Sands on the way over and wow, it was impressive. Also from Ruidoso driving long distances is not bad at all. Its about 5 hours to Taos and an hour and a half or so more to Wolf Creek and beyond.

I was raised in Ruidoso and my parents and brother still live there.  Only downfall about Ski Apache is inconsistent snow otherwise they have really good terrain with a nice bowl.  The fire last summer cleared out a lot of acreage up there which could make some interesting new runs.   Plus the new gondola that is twice as fast to the summit is a great addition.  Ruidoso is one of the few Rocky Mountain ski towns where you can go and live cheaply.  Get a cabin for a few hundred bucks a month and work in a ski shop or the casinos and you can survive up there just fine. It is a slower pace of life but a unique vibe and it will always be home to me and a place I love.

My home mountain..

I work in Alamogordo, and go through White Sands everyday..I live in Las Cruces.

My sister works for the OB/GYN in Ruidoso.

I am just waiting for abit more snow up there.. I can see the mountain from work.

Its a fun hill with the right snow.
