Great weather today (once out of the SMOG of SLC), did the afternoon at Snowbird. The snow was a lot more packed down that at DV or PCMR, something I've noticed about Snowbird... it packs harder, and you get big and numerous balls of rubble. Still the small bumps on many runs were lots of fun, and it was very un-busy. That SLC smog is creeping further up the canyon towards the resort, and it's thicker than I remember it in 2007, it's like a fog now, you can't see down through it. And back down in SLC, there was a distinct smell of sulphur.

Skiing's pretty good here. Had a really nice day at Snowbird on Wednesday with VinceF, and another today at PCMR with Mr Crab and friend, and a steady accumulation of powder! Tomorrow should be pretty amazing, what a shame it's a weekend, they'll need traffic lights on the main runs. It should keep snowing tonight and even into Sunday according to the forecasts.

I am signed up to do the clinic at Pow Mow on the 14th, maybe see you there!
You will! It's always a great clinic, probably half of PSIA-I will turn up. I heard Pow Mow has some great conditions right now, despite the lower base. I'm just hoping for a good clinician, got KL last time. Perfect.
I'll have to see what I'm doing this week... leaving Saturday too, after 3 weeks of snow and shopping. Got Pow Mow clinic on Thursday, and hoping to have something on Wednesday, but I can get back to you when things are clearer. It's snowing outside btw, but only very finely, it's pretty cold which works against big fat snowfalls.
Utah Interconnect tomorrow! So we'll be at DV, but only for a very short while.
Interconnect was pretty good! It was hell-cold, with plenty of fresh dry snow around, and a very good group. The composition of the group makes or breaks the Interconnect, last time we had gumbies, this time I was the gumby, everyone else could ski and was fit. We got some really nice powder shots through the day, some short ones between DV and PCMR, the best was off the back of Jupiter into BCC, I won't mention the debacle at Solitude... skiing hard-packed drains tested a few of us but there was some nice soft in Honeycomb to compensate. And after a hardish slog from Solitude to LCC, some very nice shots strung together down Grizzly Gulch into Alta. Guide found a big rock in Mineral Basin and took a nasty header into the snow there. Doing Silver Fox at the end of such a day was not something I'd have ventured, the snow was nice but it was difficult with tired legs.
Yep, hard day for an unfit person, but the skiing was good, no two ways about it. And seeing the Wastach areas unravel before you is always really interesting, seeing how they all join up.
Well, looks like i'm skiing PCMR tomorrow (Wednesday) and possibly demoing some Volkl Auras, very seriously thinking about buying some but want to test them on bumps and stuff first. Loved the Kenjas, but would like them a tad fatter. Anyone planning on PCMR?
Thursday is the PSIA powder cat "clinic" at Powder Mountain.
And Friday, before I leave the US on Saturday, will be a nice day at Deer Valley.
