Ski Recommendations for Tahoe

Thread Starter

Greetings,

This is my fourth season skiing(~8-10 days a season). My skiing is primarily in the Lake Tahoe area. Upto this point I have largely concentrated on learning skiing(thanks to everyone in these forums!) and haven't paid too much attention to the skiis. I have a pair of older Volkyl Carvers and newish (~2 years) comfortable boots.

I am a reasonably cautious skiier, skiing blues and the groomed blacks. I do enjoy the occasional non-groomed blue/tree run, though I don't like moguls much. I am 37 yrs,  5'8''/ 160 lbs. I would probably qualify myself as a mid/upper intermediate.

I started looking at getting newer skiis, but there is so much information out there that I am completely confused as to what would be a good ski for me. Wondering if the folks in this forum have some recommendations? I am in the SF Bay Area, so if there are any ski shop recommendations I would appreciate that as well.

Thanks!

Where in Tahoe will you be skiing? Northstar/HEavenly or Squaw/Alpine type places. Where do you want your skiing to go? Just stay a recreational skier or look to refine the craft? A couple ok skis come to mind that could suit your needs...

Rossignol Experience 88

HEad Rev 90

K2 Sideshow

K2 Rictor

these are 4 amongst others that could be fine viable options for you and a place to start. If you have more questions, please contact me at The Start Haus in Truckee..just follow through my signature.

Thanks for the information Philpug. This year I am  skiing at Northstar/Heavenly/Kirkwood. Looking to become a better skiier, but I am not sure my knees are going to permit too agressive skiing, so I will be staying a recreational skiier for a while.

Rossi Experience 88 and Rev90 would be two good choice.
