Line Influence 105 vs Line Prophet 98

Hello,
I am planning to buy a new set of skies and I am choosing between Influence 105 and Prophet 98. I am mostly skiing in Scandinavia and the Alps. Aprox 50% of my skiing is outside the slope, in the forrest or on hillsides. I am 179cm height and my weight is aprox 77kg. I am intermediate skier but I want to be better. I also would like to ski more outside the slope then I do today. Which of these skis and which height do you recommend?

Best,

Tor

on the P98 you should go for the 186 on size, probably the same on the 105. lots of feedback here that they both ski short. I'm around 165 and ski the P98 172, easy on short turns, light, playful ski!

not sure if your outside the slope is actually sidecountry/backcountry or just off piste ski inbounds, the P98 is really good up to around 8in of fresh I guess, I had a hard time on them on 10in of fresh put that was probably me maybe, but I wish I had something wider and with more rocker that day! Other than that I really have nothing bad to say about it!

The 105's at 179 would be a great off piste ski for you.  At that length they  are  a super maneuverable ski I use as a primary tree skiing ski. I take them anywhere with confidence. Good in  cut snow and very workable in powder .I don't see any need for wider unless you want a powder specific ski. I see this as a true all mountain ski for a primary off piste skier who might need to spend time on piste and do well there also.

I enjoy this ski enormously.

For a 50/50 ski (50% on piste, 50% off), at your height, weight, and ability, I would suggest the prophet 98 in a 179.  It will be a very capable ski off piste and at your weight and ability, you will not overpower it at all.  I don't see the need to go longer with this ski, and given your 50/50 statement, I wouldn't see the need to step up to to the influence either.  Just my opinion, so much about picking skis is personal preference so you'll get different advice, I'm sure.

I tried both last year and liked the Prophet 98 MUCH better than the Influence 105.

To me, it felt lighter, more nimble, more playful, and just more fun and easier to ski.

As said above, it handles up to moderate powder just fine.

YMMV, but I say P-98 in the 179 length.

I am looking at the same two skis (p-98 and influence 105) but am a heavier guy comin in at 250 lbs do you think the p 98 is tooo soft for me. I am an aggressive skier who rides the whole mountain in all conditions. ( advanced skier ) any help?

I believe the P98 is going to be too soft for a strong aggressive skier like you seem to be!

I just bought the P98s in 179cm. I demo skied them two full days in fresh, cut-up pow, and on groomers with fresh over. Super fun, nimble but felt great at higher speeds doing longer turns too. I'm 6-1, 175 and an advanced skier.

You've got 75lbs on me, and since the 105 struck me as a much burlier ski than the 98, I'd imagine the 105 would be the better choice for you.

Good choice.  If I was to only own one ski the Influence 105 would be it.  I use it on Michigan ice with great results.  To me it is the best one ski quiver out there.  I am just lucky enough to own 4 other pair of skis and also the Influence 105's.  Enjoy.
