I need to find a near equivelent for a pr of Atomic Beta Carve 10 22 skis

I am heading into the mountains again for 3 weeks on the white stuff around SLC, but I need to buy a pair of used skis when I get there. Renting makes NO SENSE! I live on a sailboat down in the Caribbean so will have to sell them again or just dump them as I can't get them down to the boat or store them.

I am 6' 3" 250 lbs and 65 years old with a weak left knee. I only ski groomers nowadays.I just loved my 200cm long Atomic Beta Carve 10 22 skis. They were lightweight, easy to turn if I was in trouble and when I was skiing well carved well.

I have tried skiing on modern 180cm long skis and dont much like how it feels. I was glad to get back to something longer. with less side cut.

What I am looking for is a list of old school skis around 200cm that would have similar behaviour characteristics to my old Atomics,. lightweight with some sidecut. so that when I hit SLC I can go and pick up something used.

All suggestions gratefully received..

A near modern GS skis should fit your bill, you can get a 190sh ski that is fairly straight and will cruise to your hearts content.

Been offered a pair of  Dynastar:.203cm Omesofts, with metal Geze bindings.

I realise they are old and I will have to set my own bindings [ I have my own boots ]  BUT remember hearing bad reports on Gese bindings.

Should I skip these or go for them.

Is there any particular point to look at on a Gese binding.

Key word here is SOFT as in OmeSOFT. You are 250lb and will fold these like a potato chip. I had a friend who skied with a guy who's uncle was from Germany where GEZE was from and said the reports were inconclusive. Skip and move on.
