Heading to the Canyons first week in Feb. Look for suggestions for good place to eat and a reputable ski shop in area.

We are staying at the Red Pine Condos.  May need to rent some gear if we get dumped on so a shop with quality rentals will be needed.    Looking for a reasonably priced place to eat at the end of the day.

What other mountain would you go to if you were to take a day to explore another location?

Only have 5 days to ride, Canyons seems pretty expansive, but don't want to miss out on the opportunity to check out another nice mountain.  Snowbird was suggested by a few friends that have been out there.

Thank you!!!

Snowbird would be great if you and your group are solid intermediate or above.  If not don't go because they have almost zero true beginner and very little low intermediate terrain.  Brighton would be good as well as Park City mountain proper and much easier to get to from the Canyons obviously.

Denny's is in the strip mall just off the freeway not too far from Red Pine and in PC proper I can recommend the No Name Saloon at happy hour at least.  Good inexpensive food and tons of different brews to choose from if that's your thing.

Red Rock Brewing is close to Red Pine.

At the base of the mountain you have two lower cost options. You can't miss the Umbrella Bar, where you can get some beer and decent bar food (hot dogs or whatever).  The Red Tail Grill is across from the lifts and more Southwest oriented...and won't disappoint you.  The other Canyons options are probably not for the budget conscious, but are worth it from the perspective of getting what you pay for.  A couple of the Talisker restaurants have deceivingly won awards.   All the food at Canyons is very good to outstanding (including what you get on the mountain), so don't worry about the quality of it.

Thumbs up on the suggestion given above for Red Rock Brewing.  There are a lot of places to eat for a reasonable prices around Kimball Junction/Redstone or in Park City.  Main Street is fun to walk around...in fact it is a must.

You really can't walk down Main Street in PC without getting ice cream at Cow's  (Java Cow Creamery).  I usually get a double shot of espresso and then walk to the ice cream side and pour it into a cup filled with one of their ice creams.  The Chocolate Bar at the Canyons also does it for me.  One of their concoctions includes a double shot of espresso with the hot chocolate.  My kids like the peppermint and Oreo thing.

Alta and Snowbird have terrain and views that are world class, and are worth the drive.  There is also nothing wrong with spending a day at  PCMR, since it is also huge (forget about DV if you are a snow boarder).  Try to make your decision early so you can save on the lift tickets.  Liftopia has some good deals.

If you eat at Redstone, consider going across the road first and visiting the Olympic Park and Alf Engen Museum.  It is worth a visit.  You will see the ski jumping hills from the road...just drive on up there.
