Tow Rope Gloves?

Thread Starter

Any good suggestions on what mits would be warm AND hold up to tow ropes?

Get some glove/mitt protectors.  They slide over your mitts/gloves.  The towrope will destroy anything you use in short order.  If you want something else due to style etc, get some leather Kinco gloves for $25.  They will get destroyed in time, but they will be cheaper.

We used these hooks, tweaked for a particular rope size, circa 1957, Arctic Valley Ski Bowl.  +1 on Kincos

Had my first trip to the NZ clubfields in August and intend to make it an annual trip. I didn't like the leather glove protectors so purchased some Kinkos which were reasonably priced. These are favoured by the locals. Others have used leather garden gloves with the fingers cut off over ski gloves. Very cheap option.

Hamilton peak - riggers gloves, nutcracker and harness

+1 on Kincos but if you're paying $25 a pair, you need to shop somewhere else. At the local Tractor store, they are $11.95 this year for the insulated ones and that store is known to be on the pricey side.

I couldn't rememeber the exact figures--I have some of the all-leather ones now.  I spent some time with some weatherproofing agent and the oven as well.  I have owned the all-leather and the leather/canvas combos.  Bottom line, cheap and easy.

Rope tow guards over mitts.
