To preface, I'm updating from a pair of 1994 185cm Volant Thunderbolts, so anything is going to be a pretty massive change. I'm a former advanced-expert skiier who took a lot of years off, but have been regaining my skill and confidence over the past few years. I ski all eastern mountains but love to explore off trail, and am somewhat of a mogul addict when I can find them. I want an advanced-expert all-mountain ski that I can grow back into, and will last for awhile. I'm 6'0, 170lbs.
Currently based on what I've read here and on countless review sites, I'm torn between Kastle MX78 176, Blizzard Magnum 8.0 ti 179, or Blizzard Magnum 8.5 ti 174
I'd like a ski that can handle everything the East throws at me, including big steep icy bumps. Would the 8.5's even in a shorter length be too stiff and sluggish in tight bump and tree runs? Is it worth the extra dough for the Kastle MX78's even over these newer Blizzards? Are there any skis that are in this league that may be a better fit? I'll let the experts decide if any are kind enough to reply. Thanks ahead of time!
