Rossignol Scimitar Sizing

Thread Starter

HI, I am about to buy the Rossi Scimitar but cant decide on which size I should buy.  I am 175 cm high, 16 years old, and 80kg.  I am a strong level 7 and quite agressive.  I like going fast (almost straigtline) in groomers but doing short quick turns off piste. I have to chose between a 171 and a 178.  Never used skis which were even near my height.

THanks

Tobias

They're going to ski relatively short, so the 178 for sure.

Good luck.

171 & 178cm length were 2012 model, This season the Simitar comes in 167, 174 & 181 length.

You can use the Rossignol ski sizing chart which is based on skiers' weight (not height) for reference:

I am looking to replace a pair of 171 cm Scimitars (last years model).  They are for my son and the size was perfect, but the new sizes seem a bit short or bit too long.  Does anyone know if they really changed the sizes, or if they just changed the way that they measure them?  I called Rossi, and the girl on the phone said that they definitely changed the sizes, but I don't think that she knows more than is published on their website.

Based on Rossi's size chart he should definitely be on a 167, but I would love for the skis to get him into next year if possible, and I know the 167 will be short by then.

Remember that the measurement and the actual size (in terms of chord length) varies a lot.  This is from the Blister Gear review:

Ski: 2011-2012 Rossignol Scimitar, 185cmphotograph of the Rossignol Scimitar

Dimensions (mm): 128-98-121

Actual Tip-to-Tail length (straight tape pull): 181.3 cm

I read that review in Blistergear, which is what made me think that the skis hadn't really changed size, just the label had changed.  But of course I don't have a pair to size up against this years model.
